Summer of Maxi...

Hi! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Weekends always seem to go by so quick, but the week drags on and on. It's okay though because I guess the anticipation of the weekend during the week makes the weekend such a great time. Well, we all know there's always a couple of items that are essential during the summer, and the maxi dress is definitely a must.

The trick to wearing the maxi is finding one that's comfortable and not too tight. You want it to look effortless. I would also recommend to make sure the top is fitting and the rest of the dress flows. If your bust size is in the smaller division, like me, try and go for dresses with a v-neck, or a crew neck with thin spaghetti straps or even a strapless top would look great. If you're a little top heavy, try and go for a crew neck that covers more or thicker straps. If you like the strapless look and don't want to show a lot, just throw a more masculine jacket on or a cut-off denim vest, like Jessica Alba's below.

I wore my maxi dress with sandals because it's more comfortable for me and the bottom of the dress just hits at the right spot. I love the way the stripes on this dress go in different directions, but meet up at the waist. The pop of blue at the bottom of the dress cuts off the stripes, but I love it because the contrast of the paths of the stripes and the block of color makes the dress look like it's not just hanging on me. It definitely adds some definition and that's very important with a longer dress. I also added the pink belt at the waist so that it gives the stripes a meeting place.
